- What are graphic finishing processes?
- Foil stamping, embossing & debossing, UV coating, mounting, die-cutting, window patching, and folding & gluing are some of the graphic finishing processes that currently exist and are most in demand by companies dedicated to the design and development of packaging. In the graphic sector, finishes are a series of techniques or production processes that aim to provide added value and are normally developed by companies specialized in these services.
- We understand graphic finishes to be those processes in the graphic industry that complement the printing process itself before and after. Graphic processes are made up of a series of phases:
- Isolation phase: In this phase, the time, resources to be used, the sought after finish, color, typography, shape, and costs are defined.
- Idea Generation Phase and Design Phase: In the idea generation phase, both the client and the design company work together to put the general ideas that emerge on the table. Here the designer can present the sketches or ideas of what the client has previously specified. During the design phase, the company must use its technical knowledge to translate the client's design into an industrial form.
- Pre-press phase: After the design phase, the pre-press phase consists of presenting the commissioned design to the client. The designer presents the client with a single copy of the material to determine if mass reproduction can proceed.
- Printing phase: This phase consists of reproducing this first design on a large scale. At this stage the product can already be palpated.
- Finishing phase: The purpose of the finishing phase is to beautify, protect and shape the printed product, achieving the desired surface and finish. To do this, we will use finishes such as Foil stamping, embossing & debossing, UV coating, etc..
- Packaging phase: This consists of delivering the finished product to the customer for distribution. In the packaging phase, topics such as: protecting the content, informing the customer of the composition, and the requirements for handling it, for example, are closed.
