Auto bottom box

  • Auto bottom box

  • In the world of packaging there are several types of boxes to choose from, and it is likely that you will easily get lost among all the options. For this reason, today we want to help you discern which are the box models that are best for your business. To do this, we will first review the system that is used internationally for the classification and categorization of packaging.

  • FEFCO: what is it and what is it for?
  • All models of cardboard boxes are regulated and unified at an international level by a code initially developed by FEFCO (European Federation of Corrugated Cardboard Manufacturers) and which has subsequently become used as a classification standard throughout the world. FEFCO collects and codes more than 150 standardized box models, which you can consult in this document. This system assigns a 4 digit code to each box type, which makes it easier for suppliers and customers to identify and describe the boxes, preventing misunderstandings in orders and facilitating communication throughout the sector. This code is the one you should use to identify the cardboard box formats that interest you for your business.

  • Among the more than 150 models of boxes collected by the FEFCO code, there are 3 groups of boxes that are the most requested, and today we will tell you more about one of them, the auto bottom box.

  • The automatic bottom boxes are assembled very quickly and without the need to use adhesives or packing tape. This type of box is made with four flaps that are delivered to the customer already glued in groups of two. The packer simply has to press the box by the folded vertices so that the fit is produced and it is solidly assembled.

  • This system provides resistance to the bottom of the box, making it suitable for transporting all kinds of objects. In addition, the lace of the flaps prevents the product from coming out. The materials with which this type of box is manufactured are mainly cardboard and corrugated cardboard.

  • This box is defined according to FEFCO by a very wide range of codes, we recommend that you consult the international fibreboard case code to find all the box formats with automatic bottom July 15 2023|Emilia Piedra Donoso.
