What do you think when you design a package?
What do you think when you design a package?Packaging design can be one of the most powerful sales and marketing tools since, well designed, it can convey a very attractive sales message to consumers of new experiences.
These days brands have a really important task: stop the consumer in their tracks, convince them to reach out and grab the product (or have the computer cursor grabit), and in three seconds convince them to put it in the shopping cart (both real and virtual).
1. Treat your packaging like a creative canvasThe most cutting-edge consumer brands use their creativity to stand out on the shelves. From literally featuring works of art in their designs to turning them into athrowback looking to the 19th century through unique, solid colors.
2. Writing clear and direct messa
Aside from creativity, leter's not forget the power of the written word. Once again, innovative consumer goods companies are using collateral in creative ways tocommunicate clear, direct messages that eliminate clutter and eliminate marketing jargon. Sometimes all that is needed is a simple list of ingredients so that consumers can know what they are buying.
3. Leave a space for connected packagesPart of modern packaging design is the increasingly popular QR code. Today, withthe rise of connected packaging, that QR code is a unique serialized code. Each serialized QR code is like a fingerprint that allows you to uniquely identify and communicate specific information pertinent to each package.
4. Seasonal designsOne of the benefits of digital printing for flexible packaging is the ability to print seasonal packaging. A clear example of this is a beautiful autumn design, Christmascelebrations or commemorating coffee day. The sky is the limit when it comes to seasonal designs, and they can now be printed in small runs with the digital printing capabilities available today.
5. Transparent packagingIn the previous points we talked about how a simple list of ingredients can do the job of selling the product. In the case of transparent packaging, let the product speak foritself. Clear packaging will enjoy growth in 2023, especially as more brands promote organic or healthy products where the product itself looks good and healthy.
6. Stand out with humorIn the same vein as selling stories, nothing sells better than making people laugh (in fact, the benefit of selling stories is the ability to weave emotion into your marketingmessage). Humor is a powerful emotion, but it is also different. You can use a fun design that will make grocery shoppers stop dead in the aisle as they crack up.
