Embossing & Debossing
Embossing raises an image above the surface of the sheet; debossing presses it below. Blind work relies on light and shadow alone. Registered work aligns the relief to print or foil.
Relief quality comes from the die, the counter and the stock. Heavier, softer sheets hold deeper sculpting. Coated and thin stocks need shallower depth to avoid cracking. We help match the effect to the substrate before dies are ordered.
Combination foil and emboss dies stamp and sculpt in one pass, keeping foil and relief in register.
